SUGAR GLIDER BONDING POUCHES

The following is a comparison and review

of the most popular three Sugar Glider Bonding Pouches

available on the market as of

* 5 Important factors to consider when selecting
the best Sugar Glider
Bonding Pouches *

1.

Veterinary Endorsements:

A quality vitamin supplement should be thoroughly tested - and endorsed - by several Veterinarians who specialize in Sugar Glider care and research.  Multiple endorsements are preferrable.

2.

High-Grade Polar

Fleece Construction:

Pouches should only be made of a quality, polar fleece which can "breathe".  All polar fleece materials are not the same, and many different grades exist.  The highest allow the most air transfer - and use color-fast dyes which will not fade or bleach-out over time.

3.

Ventilation Window

& quality zipper:

All quality bonding pouches have a large ventilation "window".  The window should be located on the top 1/3 of the pouch; allowing easy observation by the owner while still providing a dark area where the Gliders can sleep without being exposed to direct sunlight. Windows should be made of a durable, thick plastic mesh which is not easy to chew through. Pouches should use a quality zipper that will not corrode  - not drawstrings or velcro.

4.

Double-Stitching &

High-Quality Hardware:

Sugar Gliders have extremely nimble "hands", and as such will easily pull out cheap, single stitching. Stitching should not have frayed edges.  All clips, fasteners, and hardware should be made of corrosion resistant plastics or metals which are machine-washable.

5.

Glider-Safe™ Certification:

Many products currently being marketed for Sugar Gliders are actually products designed for other pets which have been "re-labeled" for Sugar Gliders without objective testing. Products which have received Glider-Safe™ certification have undergone extensive testing by animal care professionals (including Veterinarians) - and have been specifically approved for use by Sugar Gliders.

Review:

Widest range of bonding pouches anywhere; including pouches made for bras, belts, and extreme winter conditions.  Also offers numerous strap options and add-ons for additional cost.

Poor stitching and the quality of the plastic zipper is lacking. Material used for ventilation window appears to be the same screen used in screen doors. No veterinary endorsements.

Pouch seems almost identical in every way to the Peek-a-Boo pouch. Only standard bonding pouches are offered. Does not seem worth nearly 2x the cost of a Peek-a-Boo pouch from The Gliding Room.
