SUGAR GLIDER VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS

The following is a comparison and review

of the top four Sugar Glider Vitamin Supplements

available on the market as of

* 7 Important factors
to consider when selecting
the best Sugar Glider
Vitamin Supplement *

1.

Veterinary Endorsements:

A quality pellet food should be thoroughly tested - and endorsed - by several Veterinarians who specialize in Sugar Glider care and research.  Multiple endorsements are preferable.

2.

Protein Levels:

Low protein levels are a primary cause of health problems with Sugar Gliders. Minimum acceptable protein levels are generally considered to be at least 24% - however the type of proteins used are directly related to their absorption rate and overall efficacy.

3.

Calcium / Phosphorous Ratio:

Calcium deficiencies are a leading cause of illness in Sugar Gliders.  High levels of phosphorous can inhibit the absorption of calcium into the animal's bloodstream.  The ideal CA/P ratio is generally accepted as 2:1.

4.

Meat-Based Proteins:

A high level of crude, meat-based proteins and blood plasma have been linked to increased odor levels in the animals.  Meat based proteins also typically include high-levels of steroids, growth-hormones and other potentially harmful agents.

5.

Odor-Inhibiting Agents:

Ingredients which interact favorably with a food's overall formulation to enhance digest ability and neutralize ammonia and other waste products which can cause high odor levels
in the animals.

6.

Glider-Safe™ Certification:

Many products currently being marketed for Sugar Gliders are actually products designed for other pets which have been "re-labeled" for Sugar Gliders without objective testing. Products which have received Glider-Safe™ certification have undergone extensive testing by animal care professionals (including Veterinarians) - and have been specifically approved for use by Sugar Gliders.

Deficiencies in both products require that customer must buy both.  Neither product is made for Sugar Gliders. Vionate is for cats/dogs, and Rep-Cal is for reptiles. Not clinically proven to be safe for Sugar Gliders.

Extensively tested on Sugar Gliders.  Multiple Veterinary endorsements. Vitamin D-3 is incorporated directly into the formulation so no additional products or vitamin supplementation are necessary.

Both products contain deficiencies and are not specifically formulated for Sugar Gliders such as reptiles. Not clinically proven to be safe for Sugar Gliders.

Formulated by Vets specifically for sugar gliders. Appears similar to Glide-A-Mins.™ To be used only with NutriMax™.
